Paul's clearly forgotten to mention that he and I removed a complete subfame assembly from a S2 car in 38 minutes !
OK we were younger then !

And in addition to declaring effectively that I am an antique - or should I say an antiquarian - he forgot to mention that this feat was carried out on the premises of an unimpeachable witness: Harry Manning.

On being informed of the fact that we had the subframe out in the time stated, Harry responded with his immortal words: "Eh? bugger me"!

As to the s1 tie rod ends Huib and Paul mentioned. Can you recommend a source for those? Here in the States i've never heard of the brand, we do have Frap. My S1 needs front end tie rods and it would be nice to replace them with the better units.

Sorry I don't know.

We keep the Frap ones at the workshop. The ball joints in my Fulvia are fine after eight years!

Tie rod ends

I am afraid you have to do with the FRAP ones. Like Paul I have FRAP ones in stock. I think I mentioned above that the last couple of years they seem to do better and last longer.

I must add that since a few years I also make sure the springs and shocks are in perfect condition and pay close attention to the alignment of the tie rod ends with respect to the arms they are mounted on. When swinging side ways the amount of travel of the balls is limited. If not properly aligned they ruin each other.

Well, then i'll go with the Fraps. Always trying to improve! :) Upon further investigation, the Fraps are not available here anymore either. So... please recommend a European source, or several. Really time to correct the wandering front end. Thanks again, Dan
