dash - switches

Unread post by tag89 »

evening all, had a fun day getting the dash out of the Fulvia, replacing the cracked old one and giving everything a good clean.

I have a question on the switches... 3 rocker ones, first is blank, unused. second blower and then wipers, all fine. Then the knob on far side is the manual pump for windscreen washers - seemingly this is no longer connected and has been swapped to a small electric one under dash - may swap back depending how original I want it.

However, the headlight switch does not seem right. This is the nearest knob to driver (LHD)..and if I'm not mistaken it should be twist to turn side lights on and then pull to turn headlights? with the main beam on the indicator stalk?

Mine seems to turn full circle with no stop and is stiff to pull in and out. I can get the lights on but it doesn't seem quite right. Assume possible to replace the switch?

And is there anywhere to buy replacement knobs... mine appear to be a bit chewed up

had a good day of working on it - new points & condenser, leads, dis cap, plugs to be done once I have a thin wall plug socket.

far easier working on/under/behind the dash with the seats out as well.

Whilst I was busy cleaning up the earth point I noticed there is apparently a cap missing..? based on the two threaded holes either side there should be something covering this?

update in case anyone else is looking for answers to same questions:

The light switch is broken - new one being ordered, about 90eur
cover is missing, replacement 30eur.

both from oldlanciaspares.com becoming a regular customer of theirs... :D

also set about flushing rad out - needs new rubber mounts as well, totally disintegrated on removal - was full of gunk so going to flush the block too.
new dash going in to replace cracked old one

next service job is probably replacing trans/diff oil before getting into the brakes and making sure they're all working as they should be.
