Hi Georges,
I forgot to mention about the fan. Yes I removed the metal one and fitted an electric one which has a sensor within the top of the radiator. I have tested the engine with the car stationary and allowed it to heat up. The electric fan was activated when the temperature gauge reached approximately halfway (not sure if this is correct as I have never driven a Fulvia) but at this stage I am happy with the results + the temperature setting for the fan activation is adjustable for the future
Nick.
Alternator conversion - Lancia Fulvia series 1 Ralle S
Re: Alternator conversion - Lancia Fulvia series 1 Ralle S
Thank you for answers and picts, Nick, it's nice
There is no tray above my dynamo, an alternator delivers more power and probably also more heat, so its necessary to avoid the heat to come to the carbs
Several years ago, I got a Ducellier 7553A as shown on the technical data, but its too big to come in the narrow place; I notice on your picture that the metal tube driving the engine oil gauge has been cut, it is made of one piece on my car and comes near from the fuel pump; in the future I will try to find a compact alternator as I suppose 45 amp are sufficient to drive 4 front lights, wipers and heat fan in a cold and rainy week-end....
Nice to meet you; have fun with your Fulvia.
best regards

Georges
Don't drive without the drip tray.
Sooner or later your carbs will start leaking petrol. You don't want that into your dynamo or alternator.

Huib, I do not see this tray on the schemas of technical documentation for the S1 coupé but it is shown on that for S2
I understand your recommandation, it does not seem difficult to install a sheet of aluminium, I just have to find a system to fix it in place (I have no memory of such a part in my spares)
I am now solving the long problems with carburation, sparkling, condensator, ....etc, and my car is still running with the Marelli distributor.
I have to run for a long test to ensure that everything is now OK, then I will swap for the electronic distributor, and tell you what.
Best regards.

About "the paratia per carburatori" called "cloison" in french and "collector" ?? in english : I did not search on the right page of the doc : it is shown on tav 14A part n° 17
I have to dive in the many parts boxes to extract that forgotten part !
