Flaminia 826.138 project Brake Servo and General comments

Unread post by tanger911 »

Hello,

I am looking at his Flaminia GT 3C 2.8. It has been sitting for a long time. I have started the engine and it sounds good. It needs to be restored for sure.

I am concerned about the missing Servo. From what i remember it should have a Servo installed on the left side of the engine compartment. Is it actually missing?

It also seems that the brake fluid reservoir is further right than what it should be; the washer fluid glass bottle should be to the right of that, correct?

I know it is very difficult to tell what will be needed to return the brake system to the original configuration, but I'd appreciate any comments regarding the brake system and the car itself.

Thank you

Henry

HI

First, I suggest buying the CD's from Viva-Lancia which relate to the Flaminia. There are many interesting and useful things, including brakes (DUNLOP).

Right or left, it depends which way you look. Usually this is in the direction of travel of the car.

Looking at your photos, the servo is indeed missing. It should be to the right of the car, right ie. passenger side. The washer fluid bottle should be on the left, ie. steering wheel side.

There is something strange, specialists will be able to identify. Looking at the carburetors, the engine is a 3C probably 2.8, consistent with type 826.138. I thought that the Flaminia Touring 2.8 had the bonnet opening in the direction from the back to the front of the car, so with the hinges on the cooling radiator side!!!! On your photos we see the hinges at the foot of the windshield.

Hope this helps

Thank you Pierre,

I have the CD's and all the parta manual printed, this owuld be my 3rd Flaminia so I'm not totally new to them

Right or Left, my mistake, I went by the picture direction rather than the car as it should be, so yes, the servo goes to the right, the water bottle to the left of the car.

Interesting point on the bonnet opening direction. I had a GTL 826.140 with the bonnet hinges by the radiator, but I have seen other 826.138s with the hinges to the back. The 2 cars in the pictures below (both 826.138s) are for sale right now in Italy, both with the hinges by the firewall...

Thanks again

Henry
