Appia Starter Solenoid

Unread post by wellis66 »

I have a 1962 Appia, and the starter solenoid seems to "stick" after engaging. It is sealed and therefore I think I need to find another one, unless people know how to open it up. Does anyone know of a source or maybe how to open the solenoid?

Any help wold be appreciated.

i haven't opened an appia solenoid, but i'd be very surprised if you couldn't take it apart to service it. many times it becomes apparent after it is removed from the starter motor. maybe there are screws inside the metal housing for separation, or something similar. i bet the contacts are sticking together inside, and a bit of sanding will correct the problem.
