Flaminia: Chassis & engine

Messaggio da leggere da Pedro Pereira »

Hi, I’m a recent owner of a flaminia touring from 1961 (last week ). It has the chassis n. 824001987. The engine is a 3C with n. 82310*13125. I’m trying to see if this is the original engine for this car. During my “investigation” across net I got confused about dates and models. In one site I saw that the 1st series (till 1961) had the chassis 82400… with 1 solex carburetor. In 1962 appeared the model with engine with 3C. if this is true this means that my flaminia has a non-original engine. Is this true? In other docs I saw cars from 61 with this 3C solution… Where can I get information regarding matching numbers (engine and gearbox) for my car? I’m going to start a the restoration of this wonderful car trying to put it the most original as possible.

Many thanks in advance
Pedro

Dear Pedro,
Flaminia Gt with chassis 824.00 has engine 823.00 with 1 carburator only.
Model with 3 carburators has classis number 824.10.
I think You can easily find an engine 823.00.
Unfortunatly informations on chassis and engine numero are no more available because, I have heard,
registers does not exist anymore.
Good luck for You restoration.

thanks Silvio for your reply
in your opinion it's better to have this car with the current engine (823.10) or with the right one 823.00? It's not acceptable this "upgrade"?
the current installed engine it's working perfectly and it's a pitty to change it to a, i believe, worst performing engine...
grazie

Hi Pedro,
sure You can keep the engine 823.10 witch is also more performing with 3 carburators.
But originally Your car had an engine 823.00 with 1 carburator only.
The decision is up to You, if You prefer a more performing car or a correct original car.
Best Regards Silvio

hi, thanks for yr comments.
I'm considering to buy the correct engine. Does someone knows if there is one available? I understood that the flaminia coupe 2.5 (119HP) uses the same engine, so it should be easier to get one
It's not yet clear for me if I'm going to keep the current engine installed.
