Lybra V6

Unread post by Romeo »

Ciao,

Has anyone ever thought about getting an Alfa V6 in a Lybra?
I mean: The 156 and Lybra are close sisters
-The 2.0 20v uses Motronic ME 3.1, and so does the 156 2.5 V6 after 2000, so the sensors and actuators speak the same language, the connectors should be the same. Being so, just the cables have to be fitted, probably only under the bonnet and from there to the ECU.
-The engine should fit in, and the height can not be a problem too, as the 2.4 JTD fitts under the bonnet aswell.
-The brakes are the same, just 4-bolts to 5 bolts, but no upgrade is neccessairy.
-The frontsprings from a 2.4 JTD can be used.

I see some points though:
- Even when using the engine and gearbox as a whole, the driveshafts are probably not usable from a 156 V6.
- The gearshift has to be made fit from the 156
- The subframe in the Lancia needs to be changed to support the V6.
- In the enginebay some things will need to be moved (watertank, airfilter/intake, some relais en other electronic things.)

A Lybra with a V6 is such a good idea, why did Lancia not bring that car out themselves?
Has someone tried this before or do you have some good points, please, let me know.
