engine control system failure

Dear all,

I own a 1997 lancia kappa 2 litre 16v 205 hp fully serviced and checked with 170000klm and sometimes I have an indication on my info center 'engine control system failure'. I am not sure whether the torque is down but this indication comes and leaves with no specific reason.
Anybody exerienced the same problem?

Moreover, I'd like to know if anyone has a spare car's manual in English that I can have, photocopy or buy.

PS any idea how can I make my kappa better in cornering?

my kappa 2,4 has same problem and in service after tests they said thath the air flov meter is not working properli or the pipe from it to engin is not good

I've replaced the airflow meter and a part of the big air insert pipe few months ago...

I had the same problem on my 16v. This message appeared only when the motor temp. went down (fast drive, low temperature etc.) I replaced the thermostat and then everything was ok.

I think you have a point. I've noticed that when this message is on the engine is hotter than usual. I'll check that too. thank youDan wrote:

can you tell me where i could order air insert pipes , but not local fiat dealer.... i live in estonia and the local dealer is not good....

Maybe you should try and buy some silicone one by samco. it cost about the same price and lasts longertrc wrote:

Witch reference from termostat in fiat did you use?

7718036 or 7 ?

and were did you buy it please?
