Radiator fan not turning on

Unread post by famasmaster78 »

Hello!

I was driving my Kappa in town today and noticed the temp gauge creeped above the 90 degree middle mark.

I therefore stopped at a parking lot and checked if the fan was running, which it was not.

I have checked the fan by running it directly from the battery and it spins just fine.

I have also replaced the temp sensor on the thermostat as i believe this is the one used for the fan? Also replaced the fan resistor.

Where is the switch for the radiator fan?
What is the best way to troubleshoot this?
Is there another temp switch for the fan that i am not aware of?

Thank you! :)

Best regards

After more digging and checking the Relays, it turned out to be a simple bad connection from the relay through the fan resistor.

I tested the relay and wiring by sending current directly through the relay pin connectors, and when the fan did not turn on i instantly inspected the fan resistor, and after a bit of wiggling, cleaning and poking with the multimeter, the fan eventually started working again.

I also tried disconnecting the temp sensor and the fan sprung into life.

Back on the road!

Cheers,
J
