Green Check Light

Unread post by Morné Joubert »

When I switch on the ignition, all checks are performed and the red check light goes off. The green check light goes on for 3 seconds and starts flickering. Should this light go off at some stage? According to the manual it should go off...

This is an unusual one!

The green light should start flashing after 3 secs and then go off when the engine starts. Now so far as I can see, the only thing that tells the check panel that the engine is running is a red and green wire that comes from the ignition switch.

You could try cleaning the contacts of the connectors at the ignition switch, but I doubt that it will cure the light.

Best bet is to take the instrument panel out and remove the bulb. 4/5 small alen keys at the top and then two screws behind the steering column cover. Take care when removing the binnacle surround as it is easy to break off the metal bar that runs along the top.

The binnacle is a bit fiddly to refit, but take time and it will go back on.
