Exaust smell in cockpit

Unread post by Hugo Pinto »

Hi there,

I know that we have already spoken about this subject, but does anyone knows where should we look at when inside your cockpit you sense a strong smell of exaust. I know that this is a problem since they left, but i don't know where to look.

Can anyone help me?

Best Regards

Hi,

There is a vent (about 8 inches by 4 inches in size)
just behind the left side panel above the exhaust pipe
area. Just the other day I pulled away part of the
boot carpeting near the area and plugged the vent
with thick sponge and silicon'ed the entire area.

The exhaust smell that I'd experienced for quite
some time has diminished significantly. God knows
how much carbon monoxide I have breathed in
for the past few months.

Best wishes,
Leon

There was a recall from Fiat / Lancia last year to deal with this problem - it only seems to affect cars up to a certain chassis # (my Turbo is later, and I don't have the problem), and as Leon says the 'fix' seems to be to plug that vent behind the bumper. Hope that helps - Alan
