Re: Correction V angle

Unread post by Geoff »

Just to be clear here - this V angle is of the piston bore - in some of the engines this is not the same as a line to the center of the crank. I mention this just in case someone's brilliant machinist starts to take the crankcase and tries to line up the angles....

that´s correct. You can find the sketch also in the drawing of the lancia patent about this item.

Hi to all Lancisti from Greece. I got recently a coupe 1.3 S of 1975 3rd series in completely original status and 99000km on the clock. Just started restoration and I would like to ask about timing process... My camshafts don't have vernier so adjustment is only possible with timing marks, so far so good. I am wondering, if so, I can adjust my valves directly to the operational gap without the intermediate method of 2.2 mm gap, am I right?
Thanks in advance!

Putting crankshaft at TDC and the camshafts on the mark is ok. I would at least check with the 2,2 mm method on cylinders 1 and 4.

We also print a 360 degree disc to fit the flywheel (or the pulley if the engine is still in the car) and check all 4 cylinders opening and closing.

Thank you so much! I have rebuilt so far my FIAT 124 , Alfa Romeo 105 and Triumph but Lancia is really unique in its engineering, its my first Lancia and unfortunately there is no so much literature around... So, I will come back with more questions for sure!

Always welcome.

Here the link for printing the disc.

I always print it on ultra high gloss A3 photo printer.

That's perfect! I have seen that you are dealing with 123 ignition distributors as well. I am very happy with them in my FIAT & ALFA ROMEO, I am using BT version for both, due to the fully customizable curve possibility and immobilizer option. How we can elaborate on this? Can I send you a PM maybe?
