Hi,
I've been away from Lancia for a while and I'm wondering what oil I should put in my Fulvia. The handbook recommends 10W/40 - is this still what should be used? The oil world is a bit of a minefield with mineral oil, synthetic, semi-synthetic. What do you recommend?
Engine oil
Re: Engine oil
There are two different routes
In a used engine, changing frequently is more important than the highest quality oil. I use 20W50 mineral, as I don't drive in winter, and the slightly higher viscosity helps avoid oil leaks of the old engine.
For a completely cleaned out and rebuilt engine, you can switch to fully synthetic, e.g. 10W60. Don't use fully synthetic in a used engine, as it is built to loosen the old crud, which may then cause havoc in the engine.
I'm sure this has been discussed here before, so there should be more details in the search.

Re: Engine oil
agree with Bernt, 20/50 conventional. i think most fulvia owners are using it. i like valvoline vr1, it's an racing formulation containing zddp.
Re: Engine oil
OK, thanks guys. I have used Valvoline before so I think I'll stick with that.
