Brake cylinders to caliper torque specs

Unread post by lancia7550 »

Hi, I can not find the torque specs for the brake cylinders to the caliper body in the repair shop manual and a google search did not turn up anything.
I am a bit worried that I will snap the bolts or strip the threads if I over tighten, but want to make sure they are properly tightened. Any advice would be appreciated.

Neither have I found any torque specs. If you have the original 1/4" UNF bolts with a strength comparable to 10.9, I would look at the torque values for M6 10.9.

For M6 10.9 the torque would be 16.500 Nm. The diameter of 1/4"is 5% more than M6. Torque would be 10% higher. If you have the aluminium pods with the 12.9 Allen key bolts, it s different.

Ciao Huib,

you right, no torque is indicated into the Lancia workshop manuals, but you can find this information on the leaflet that was present in the box containing the seal kit supplied by Lucas-Girling, that torque is 1,51 kgm (11lb. ft). Your estimation, if in Nm is quite close. :-)
Here attached a scan of 1968, early '70 and a 1978 version.

Ciao

Giovanni

Grazie Giovanni.
Good to see that material. Very nice.

I really look forward to see you again in Mondovi. As soon as the Corona thing is over we will drive to Mondovi again for some glasses of good Dolcetto.
