Transmission Gaskets?

Unread post by lancie »

Hi all - I am noticing three drops of oil in a straight line under my transmission, suggesting that the gaskets are going bad and need to be re-sealed - could anyone point me in the right direction where to find a kit for this? Any special tools needed for the job?

Thanks a lot,

The cause may be something else. There are gaskets under the bell house at the front, under the rear cover, at the sides where the half axles are but definitely not between the left half and the right half.
The surfaces are perfectly machined. They have to be for two reasons. One is to clamp the ball bearings inside and prevent them from spinning. The other is to prevent oil leakage.

Most of the time leakage is over the top. Wear on the bush where the operating yoke goes in.
And or leakage through the small seal inside the bell housing where the drive shaft goes in.
