I'm going to make a gearbox oil change on my 4 speed gearbox and i'm asking what modern oil is better for it. ¿Api4 or api5? ¿Monograde or multigrade? Thanks.

Hi,

The original specification is probably API GL3. Do not use synthetic oil or one with EP-additives, they will harm the synchronizers. I use Tutela ZC90 in my Flavia.

Thanks Miika. I searched Tutela ZC90 in my local distributors and found that this oil is used on Iveco trucks today. I'm a bit confused as the fulvia and flavia has diff shared with gearbox and actual standards recommends API GL5 por hypoid gears, but as lancia gearbox is engineered with API GL3 in mind, i think this oil is ok for lancia diff.

Regards.

I've used full synthetic -- RedLine Lightweight Shockproof -- for over a decade with no issues whatsoever.
