Re: Silent blocks

Re: Silent blocks
Hoi Onno.

Re: S1 Wheels
I am not sure what you want. Original Fulvia wheels are all 4.5J14. Only the 1,6HF and 1600HF have wider rims (and different wishbones). Why not just get S1 4.5J14 wheels if you have an S1 car?

Re: S1 Gearbox 4 speed problem - Third gear jump
Of course the selector parts on the outside have to be checked and fixed. Don't give up on the slider too soon!!! Everything overlooked on the inside is heavily punished as the thing has to be taken apart again. The story is that the job of the navigator of Sandro Munari was to hold the gear in 3rd ...

Re: S1 Gearbox 4 speed problem - Third gear jump
There is hardly anything wrong with the sliders. Keep your eyes open though, yours could be the first one. The gear wheels on the main shaft have cones onto which the synchro's lock. Note that those cones and their teeth are seperate parts pressed into the gear wheels (or heath shrunk). AFter all th...

Re: S1 front suspension torquing front suspension
Original bushes at the top and silent blocs at the bottom is the case on many S1 cars I think. Nothing wrong with it unless the wrong quality silent blocs. The distance between bump stop and wishbone for torquing the bolts at the bottom wishbone that is quoted in the DT is for the S2 Fulvia. On the ...

Re: S1 front suspension torquing front suspension
Andreas is right. The S1 has bushes that need to be greased and can turn freely. If you are again using the old style bushes, just torque to the right value and check if there is no play and the wishbones can swing without friction. If you have converted to the S2 silent blocs, the matter is differe...

Re: Inspecting bearings without removing engine
I do not have the parts themselves in front of me to inspect and feel, but I would probably decide to use some sanding paper on the sharp edge between combustion chamber and under side of head. If that is where the lowest value is. And if the fuel in your country is good quality. I also vary the thi...
