Re: Series 1 Brakes

Just a thought, did you bleed the master before bleeding the calipers?

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?

i always check the ring gap by inserting the top compression rings in the bore and check with feeler gauges. check the top, mid-stroke, and bottom of stroke. the bottom of the stroke is probably the most important place to make any adjustments. as it's usually the tightest. if too tight, you can car...

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?

i would closely check the bores while the pistons are out. check everything you can. look at surface finish, bore size, check for taper, consistent diameter, etc...
do i remember that low compression was a symptom this engine had before the decision was made to rebuild it?

Re: LED headlights/Recurring blown fuse #7

i would try unplugging the inner lights and then see if the fuse blows under the same conditions. also look at the lights to verify how many watts the filament draws. and of course, as has been mentioned, check the size of the fuse.

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?

anything is possible, but if the bolts came up to torque value without incident i would doubt they were the culprit. i would doublecheck the torque with a good quality torque wrench. something has been missed somewhere. hopefully it's just on the top end. i don't exactly understand your cam setting ...

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?

agree, checking valve gear closely would be the first thing to do. double check that the rocker shafts haven't pulled their threads too. see if you can fit a dial indicator on the valves to read the valve lift is correct and the cams are not worn. if you are positive that the valves and cams are set...

Re: Cam Cover Skimmed

i would be very surprised if they were not. from a manufacturing standpoint i just don't see any good reason to have them at different elevations. i would also be looking at the head for imperfections causing the leak. maybe the oil is coming through an imperfection in the casting in either the head...

Re: Engine oil

agree with Bernt, 20/50 conventional. i think most fulvia owners are using it. i like valvoline vr1, it's an racing formulation containing zddp.

Re: Rear suspension set-up

jem, you should aim to run the spring for the car as designed. there are dimensions for it in the data book. i can't remember how many leaves offhand, but it should be easy enough to find out. a lot of cars, fulvia included, need the suspension to be set in the operating position. the rubber isolato...

Re: Differences Fulvia Zagato 1,3 - 1,3s ?

zagato tended to use whatever might be laying about so it's not impossible to have mixed metals from when it was produced. but by 1972 i think all the aluminum panels had been used up at zagato. of course there may be some inaccuracy of build year for the car as some were listed by year sold. a seri...
