The picture is not very clear. But having studied it twice, the conclusion is that the crankcase is from a series 2 engine. Just get a series 2 dip stick.
And the dynamo needs a new pulley.

Re: Inspecting bearings without removing engine
Good question. From the pics the size of the rings looks ok. If the angle of the bore is correct, the oversize of the rings should be equal everywhere. I fix the gasket to the block with a few drops of instant glue and put studs diagonally to guide the head when lowering it onto the block. Long stud...

Can you post a picture of the crank case showing the tube the dip stick goes into?

Re: S1 Gearbox 4 speed problem - Third gear jump
When shifting gears a lot of gear wheels (and also the clutch disc!) have to change speed. That is a lot of mass. Making that faster requires holes to be drilled in the gear wheels etc. How much is the change in speed? Maybe someone likes to do the calculations. For me school is too long ago. It may...

Ciao Giovanni, sharp as ever. Good to see you .... uh read you. Good to remind everybody. Grazie. I have always wondered what the difference is. I have never seen nor felt a difference. Spaghetti? Perhaps someone else on the forum knows. I will ask around again. In any case I continue swapping and r...

Have fun.
And use Millers CRX 75W90 NT+
NT means nano technology. Ultra modern additives.
Do not use the LS (limited slip) version.

Re: S1 Gearbox 4 speed problem - Third gear jump
Not at all. The Lancia gearboxes are very good. Often the synchros are like new. DT-Fulv 03 0020.jpg Measure the play E. If it is more than 1,1 mm, the synchro is new. If it is 0,5 or less than it has worn and needs to be replaced. Note, I mark the synchros so I can put them back in the original gea...

Re: S1 Gearbox 4 speed problem - Third gear jump
About the 2nd gear. There is a trick to make it shift faster even when cold. I keep it secret because if you shift quicker all the time the wear goes up.
I use the Millers CRX75W90 Synth oil for the gearbox. This already should make it shift a lot faster when cold.

Oops. Thanks. I had not noticed myself. I think it is for a car which is not yet on the road.
