Re: stuck clutch disc ?
I've had this issue. The clutch plate is stuck to the flywheel. To overcome this the car was started in gear and the clutch pedal released quickly. It's quite violent, but gets the job done. Apparently, it happens in damp conditions. It.could also be due to rust on the input shaft due to a lack of g...

Kennzeichen
Guten Abend.

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?
Thanks for the information. The low compression is more than likely due to the gaps being too large, over 3x too large in some instances. This is confirmed when the rings were inserted into the bores and the gaps measured. The roundness and taper were measured by the machine shop prior to honing and...

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?
The were other reasons but the final trigger was low compression. All cylinders were less that 90psi on a warm engine. Lower when cold. The bores for cylinders #2, #3 & #4 were measured prior to honing and determined to still be within tolerance so were kept. The bore of cylinder #1 was corroded...

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?
anything is possible, but if the bolts came up to torque value without incident i would doubt they were the culprit. i would doublecheck the torque with a good quality torque wrench. something has been missed somewhere. hopefully it's just on the top end. i don't exactly understand your cam setting...

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?
I'll borrow a torque wrench from a colleague to verify it the correct torque is applied.
The car is a S1 and the procedure was as per the manual, or my interpretation anyway

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?
Thank you both for the tips. I did check all the valve clearances for cylinders #1 & #'2 before posting last night and they were as per the manual. The rocker tightening nuts had not come loose. I'll try and get hold of a dial gauge to measure the amount of lift. In setting the valve timing this...

Re: Leaky Valves, Low Compression. Many Problems?
Update In the end I removed the engine and carried out a rebuild. Inspection of the engine after stripping showed that cylinder #1 had a deep gauge caused by corrosion. Cylinders #2. #3 & #4 were within spec but in need of a hone. The damage to cylinder #1 was so bad that a new liner was inserte...

Re: Fulvia Ignition switch
I would put the regulator at the top of the suspects list. If it is still the original Bosch electromechanical thing, replace that with an electronic one. The output side of the regulator has two thick red wires and a small black one. One red goes to battery. 2nd red goes inside the car to fuse box...
