S1 coupe heater unit
Looking at possibly removing my S1 coupe heater unit assembly for a refurb etc. Is it possible to just close the heater cock and also the bleed cock (near the horns on the subframe) before removing the matrix hoses? Or do I need to fully drain the coolant from the whole system? thanks, Mike S1 Rally...

Re: Window winder
Speaking of window winders on Series 1 doors... my coupe came with all the old door trim in a box and the chrome circular trim surround behind the winder lose in the box. How does one fit this chrome ring to the door liner? I had new ones made and did not notice how it fits the old trim. Is it a pre...

Re: Wont stay in 1st and 3rd gear
Well, I took the car for a drive over the weekend and after much gearshifting, it appears to be much better in third gear (does not drop out of gear). But it still is loose in first gear. It has improved so that it is now intermittent - say 50-50, with it staying in gear sometimes and the lever bein...

Re: Wont stay in 1st and 3rd gear
Thanks Lucas and Huib.
I am now wondering if it is in fact the detent spring which has failed. Meaning the gearbox has to come apart to fix?
Are these springs still available?
Thanks,
Mike

Wont stay in 1st and 3rd gear
Noticed yesterday when I was backing out of the garage (Series 1 Rallye with manual transmission) there was a bit of clutch shudder. Then I discovered it would not stay in both first and third gears. Any clues what has happened? It is still driveable but I have to hold the gear leaver in first and t...

Re: Series 1 Dunlop brake overhaul
Many thanks to all who replied. (Thanks Andrea for the diagram). I had a good look at my master cylinder over the weekend and surprise... I find leaking brake fluid around the top of the pedal assembly and a very slight film on the lower mounting nut on the firewall. This is not a major leak, but a ...

Series 1 Dunlop brake overhaul
Since replacing the brake master cylinder with a rebuilt one, I still have brake issues that I am not happy with (or feel safe on the road with)... The brake pedal does not immediately return back up after use and the brakes feel like they are only "half on". Any clues why? System has been...
