Re: Fulvia buying checklist

there doesn't seem to be much action here on the forum these days. i'm surprised that there's been no response at all to your question. i think you will find a fulvia is a fantastic choice if you find the right one. there are quite a few different variants so do some research to narrow down what you...

Re: Distributor advance weight lubrication

i see nobody has replied to your question. i lubricate mine. i see no reason not to. i either use a small amount of silicone grease or dry moly spray. just be careful not to foul the points, (if you still have points installed)

Re: Ignition timing point

if i remember correctly, (and my memory is a little fuzzy on this) with the strobe that has no advance function, the mark would be about 2-1/2 teeth early. that puts it almost out of sight of the window.

Re: Tracing back the car history

unless you are lucky enough to have the original documentation from when the car was sold, it is not possible to match the engine number with the chassis. the best you can do is determine to the best of your ability the dates of manufacture and then see how likely it would be that they are a match. ...

Re: S2 Fulvia coupe white smoke mystery

you would need to do a proper cooling system pressure test do see if there's any leaks into the head or elsewhere.
you're on the right track for now putting a known good fuel source on the carb inlets. you can also drain some fuel from the center drain on the tank and do a test for water in the fuel.

Re: Fulvia paint codes

there's always a way to match the paint. if no other means is available take a small part of the car (fuel door maybe) to your local autopaint supplier so they can scan it and make up a matching paint in whatever formulation you want to use. this is fairly common in the us where i'm at, but must be ...

Re: Series 1 starter questions

while you have the starter out on the bench, look at the large contact that makes the connection when the solenoid is engaged. sometimes the contact can weld itself together and make the starter hold on. usually, this contact is a copper stud, and can be pushed out and rotated so a more un-worn out ...

Re: Series 1 starter questions

many times it's the starter bendix sticking in the engaged position. this may hold on the contact for the motor to keep spinning. while it's possible the ignition switch is holding on, i think it's much more likely the problem is within the starter itself. sometimes simply removing the starter, disa...

Re: Input Shaft Bearing - When Gearbox out Do List

i would also check the free play on the clutch arm to be sure the throwout bearing is completely disengaged when the pedal is released. sometimes if the bearing is making slight contact it can make noise when it's getting worn. it's probably not your noise, but should be checked anyway.
