Re: Which series of the Fulvia Coupé is best?

I always like the first series better, whatever the make is. The product is usually closer to what the designer intended. Many times the "improvements" made to second series were due to regulatory changes, and the Americans are not solely to blame, witness the horrible headlights on the Br...

Re: Sparky

Huib Thank you for your prompt reply. The Pertronix "ignitor" is a Hall Effect device that just replaces the points and condenser , very simple install. They claim more voltage at the spark plug also. There is no box, and the system looks stock from the outside. So I checked and tested (oh...

Re: Sparky

Thanks Huib

Thinking about it last night I thought there must be another ground to connect to the body. I will check those.
By "ignition unit" do mean the ignitor? to the cylinder head.

Sparky

After doing a little cleaning on my S1 Fulvia, I was letting the motor warm up and I decided to open the throttle a little bit ( using the linkage pivot under hood) to hear that wonderful induction sound. And what was that? a little flash of spark? Yes, there is spark between the fan mount and the f...

Re: oil consumption after rebuild?

Compression rings are not the same as oil control rings. You can have good compression and yet still burn oil. Why only No.1 ?.
I dont know but it could be those rings failed to seat, always check all tolerances when building a motor, even of new parts!

Re: Wood dash

I am not an expert wood worker but I believe a "solid piece" would quickly warp and/or crack, that is why they are veneer. I took my S1 dash to a cabinet maker friend and he put new veneer on the old dash ( it looked more like a bakelite product than plywood). It came out beautiful and mat...

windshield washer

Can some describe how the windshield washer works?
The shop manual does not show an exploded view, the owners manual says to pull and release.
Even with some force mine does not pull out, it does turn a little though.
