Re: Dell'ortos

There is no problem if you run the car with DHLB32's. You just will have a few HP less power at 6000 rpm. That is if the combination of venturi and jets is a valid one. If not valid you may harm the engine. The DHLB35's have venturi's which can be changed. For the 1.3S engine you need the 31mm ventu...

Re: Ignition timing point

That is a smart idea to fix the weights to set fixed advance. Then check dynamic advance from there.

Perhaps take the springs off for checking the max advance at high rpm? Mmmm. What do you think?

Over the years I have become critical about the max advance to protect the center main bearing.

Re: Ignition timing point

Good question. Often I am suspicious about the springs like you. In practice it is not necessarily bad. There are other things which may influence the curve such as play on the spindle, play on the pins holding the centrifugal weights etc. What we need is a low cost instrument to check the advance c...

Re: Radiator Mounting Bolt Torque

The castellated nuts have to be locked with a cotter pin. Lancia uses cotter pins or self locking nuts when the torque is low. Without looking it up I would set them at 2.0 mkg.

Note there should be a metal bush inside too.

Re: Air in the petrol inlet tube

The throttle cable should have room for the engine to tilt without influencing the outer cable. It should also be flexible enough. The ones with the steel spiral are usually ok. Cables with only plastic as outer cable are not ok. The plastic is not flexible enough after some time. Where the cable go...

Re: Air in the petrol inlet tube

Well, apart from the sounds it is also the sequence. The material of the throttle cable, its routing and fastening of the outer cable to the firewall have to be correct. The engine tilts from left to right and vice versa. The subframe tilts from front to back and vice versa. The throttle cable needs...

Re: Air in the petrol inlet tube

Just to re-focus: our problem is hesitation during acceleration. Words mean slightly (sometimes completely) different things to different people. Can you ask a lady to describe the problem? A lady who is not technical at all and who is good with what I call the house, garden and kitchen words. And c...

Re: Air in the petrol inlet tube

If all 4 acceleration jets squirt fuel, it is ok for now. Next step, the spark plugs. Can you put NGK plugs type BPR7ES and make sure the gap is set to 0,6mm? The Fulvia engine is sensitive to the gap. Or, if your engine is healthy put the expensive iridium NGK BPR7EIX. Don't touch the electrodes. T...

Re: Air in the petrol inlet tube

First, the hoses have to be changed to ethanol resistant hoses. If still original they are not even unleaded resistant. Air bubbles may remain in the hoses. No problem. Air bubbles move from bottom to top. The routing may be such that flow is not always up. 2nd series Fulvia's have a return for the ...
